The God of All Comfort

God is the God of all comfort, and He meets His people in suffering with mercy, not judgment. Paul reminds us in II Corinthians that when believers experience pain, God faithfully comforts them—not just for their own healing, but so they can share that same comfort with others. Our pain is never wasted when it becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Suffering also teaches us dependence on God. Paul admitted their trials were so severe they felt like death itself, yet those moments forced them to rely not on their own strength but on the power of God who raises the dead. God often allows hardship so we will discover that real hope is not found within ourselves, but in Him alone.

Finally, the church has a responsibility to support one another through prayer. Paul called on fellow believers to pray, showing that God’s deliverance often works through the prayers of others. Prayer is not passive—it is powerful. When we pray, we participate in God’s rescue work and become channels of His comfort to those who are hurting.
