To Advance the Gospel

Paul wrote to the Philippians from prison, showing them that his suffering actually advanced the gospel. Even while imprisoned, the message of Christ spread, and believers grew bolder in their faith. Though some preached with wrong motives, Paul rejoiced that Christ was proclaimed.

He admitted he longed to be with Christ but chose to remain for the sake of others’ growth and joy. His life reminded believers to live with a Christ-centered purpose, to face death with hope, and to keep serving others while they remained.

The message was reflected in the lives of two faithful saints who recently passed. Each, in different ways, advanced the gospel. Their loss reminded believers that God, in His sovereignty, could bring good even from sorrow, working all things for His glory.
