Don't Poke The Bear
The book of James takes us on a journey from an untamable tongue, to an untamed heart, to a praying church. He confronts jealousy, selfishness, worldliness, and careless speech, but he also offers God's remedy: humble yourselves, draw near to God, and pray. Though we all stumble in many ways, God gives more grace to those who seek Him.
People say, "Don't poke the bear," because you don't know how it will respond. But James teaches us not to be afraid to seek God boldly. Pray for revival, healing, and a fresh work of His Spirit—but be ready for Him to begin with your own heart. God is not a sleeping bear; He is the living God, and when His people humble themselves and pray, He still answers. James begins with an untamable tongue, moves to an untamed heart, and ends with a praying church. God changes our words, then our hearts, and then He works through our prayers.
