He Who Trembles at My Word

He Who Trembles at My Word
Pastor Debbie Haynes

Isaiah reminds us that God owns everything. Heaven is His throne, earth is His footstool, and all creation is the work of His hands. There is nothing we can build, accomplish, or offer that God lacks. Yet among all the people on earth, God says there is one person upon whom He looks with special favor: the one who is humble, contrite in spirit, and who trembles at His Word. The question is not what we can give to God, but how we respond when God speaks.

Throughout Scripture, God continually calls His people to hear His voice and seeks hearts that will listen and obey. In Acts 13, Paul proclaims that God fulfilled every promise concerning the Messiah through Jesus Christ. When the people heard this message, they begged to hear more, and by the next Sabbath nearly the whole city had gathered to hear the Word of the Lord. Those who truly hear God's Word develop a hunger for it. Reverence leads to appetite. God is still looking for people who tremble at His Word, and those who do will always desire more of His voice, His truth, and His presence.
